All is merry and bright for the festive season at Timeout Children’s Homes

21/12/2017

The festive winter season is well underway at Timeout Children’s Homes with lots of events for children and staff alike. This is just a taste of the events the young people are enjoying this year.

We would like to wish everyone a peaceful winter season and the very best of wishes for 2018.

Christmas Card competition

The annual Christmas Card competition attracted excellent entries from children and young people of all ages from both our homes and our schools, Elland House and Riverbank. The standard was very high, with seasonal colours and themes, lots of mixed media, and a heavy dash of creativity and imagination. This made the judging very difficult, but the results are now in.

In third place is J’s festive Christmas tree, which looks like it is made of sweets and good enough to eat!

In second place is J’s reindeer, with its sparkly nose lighting a path.

And first place goes to T and K, who made a wintry scene using hand and thumb prints. The judges were particularly impressed with how well they had worked together!

Christmas Jumper Day

On 15th December, children, teachers and carers joined together in wearing their most festive jumpers. We made donations to raise money for Save the Children. It is lovely for our children to see how they can make a difference in this way to the lives of other people.

Festive “Deck the Halls” competition

“Deck the Halls” is another annual competition at Timeout Children’s Homes. Carers and young people have designed, decorated and transformed their homes into magical wonderlands. There is always a very attractive prize at stake, so the standard is impressively high every year. The decorations were impressive across all homes, but there was a stand-out winner, plus a close second, with the children winning prizes to see Shrek. Lovely to see so much handcrafted, original work!

Christmas Cheer and Timeout’s Got Talent

The day of the Winter Solstice sees another festive celebration at Timeout, with lots of good food, gift giving and a visit from Father Christmas. This is the setting for the Timeout’s Got Talent performances, which make us cry and laugh in equal measure. The room is set, the presents are ready, and we believe we can hear sleigh bells getting closer…
