Our work with the CSJ

06/06/2019

We have been working with the Centre for Social Justice over the past twelve months to assist them in the research for the 12 by 24 paper. This paper’s purpose is to double the number of care leavers successfully getting through higher education from 6% to 12% by 2024. At present you have more chance of meeting someone from Cyprus than someone who has been in care at a university, we want to change that stat.

Our young people have kindly volunteered to be interviewed and discuss their views on higher education, in the paper you will see that it is the views of the children which has driven the changes requested.

The paper was released last week at the House of Commons at which we attended and listened to The Minister for Children and Families – Nadhim Zahawi, as he has approved a number of the recommendations the paper has requested. We are so proud that the children in our care are helping to drive change in policy down in Westminster.
