Manager's Story

I joined Timeout in 2020, and only knowing that I enjoyed helping others and working with children. I joined a team that reassured me on the hard days, and celebrated my achievements. My manager was always pushing my development and reminding me that I was capable. Once out of my probation period, I began working solo with a child that displaying highly challenging behaviours. I relied on the support of my team, training, and guidance.

I developed resilience towards the difficult days and confidence in my abilities to care and protect. Overtime, my relationship became strong and this child inspires me to be the best version of myself everyday and to provide high levels or care and patience.

I then became the senior of the home and enjoyed taking a more leadership role in mentoring my team and being a part of care planning. I loved being a part of strategy meetings and advocating for the needs of the child. I had management in the back of my mind but never really believed in myself until approached by the management team. They celebrated my passion and work ethic and skills for leading a team.

By 2024, I was employed as the youngest manager at Timeout and I love that I get to provide the most amazing care to the most amazing children.
