A Fresh Start for Riverbank School: Our Wonderful Summer Revamp

There's nothing quite like walking through the doors on the first day of term and being greeted by something new. This September, the children and staff at Riverbank School did exactly that, stepping into a beautifully transformed space that feels warmer, calmer and more welcoming than ever. The whole school has had a summer revamp, and we couldn't be more delighted with the results. We owe an enormous thank you to the brilliant maintenance team at Timeout, who worked tirelessly over the holidays to bring it all to life. From fresh paint to brand-new rooms, every corner of the school has been lovingly cared for. The best part? The children absolutely love it.

A Brand-New Sensory Room

One of the most exciting additions is our new sensory room. Designed as a gentle, engaging space, it gives children the chance to explore, relax and regulate at their own pace. Whether they need a moment of calm or a little sensory stimulation, this room offers a safe and comforting place to be.

We already know how much of a difference a dedicated sensory space can make, and seeing the children discover it for the first time has been an absolute joy.

A Calm Room Built for Comfort

Alongside the sensory room, we've created a new calm room, complete with soft padding to keep everyone safe and cosy. This is a space where children can take a breath, settle their emotions and feel supported when they need it most.

Every detail has been thought through with our pupils' wellbeing in mind. It's peaceful, protective and exactly the kind of retreat that helps children feel secure throughout their school day.

Welcoming CommunityHub

We're also thrilled to introduce our brand-new Community Hub. This is more than just a room; it's a heart for our whole school family. A place for families, staff and visitors to come together, connect and feel part of something special.

Building strong relationships is at the core of what we do at Riverbank, and the Community Hub gives us a wonderful new space to nurture those bonds.

A Fresh Coat of Therapeutic Colour

The entire school has been given a full repaint, and what a transformation it is. The new palette was thoughtfully chosen by Head Teacher Lianne, who selected warm, therapeutic colours designed to feel welcoming and soothing.

The result is simply beautiful. The corridors and classrooms now feel brighter, gentler and more inviting, creating an atmosphere that supports both learning and calm. It's amazing what a considered choice of colour can do for a space.

A Tidier, Happier Forest Area

Our beloved forest area hasn't been forgotten either. It's had a lovely tidy-up over the summer, ready for children to explore, play and connect with nature once again.

So far, the children are loving the refreshed look, and we can't wait to see all the outdoor adventures the coming terms will bring.
