Cooking Up Fun and Healthy Habits at Timeout

What a wonderful few sessions we've had here at Timeout! Our very own chef, Joel welcomed our children and their carers into the kitchen for a series of cooking classes — and we're thrilled to say they were a huge success.

A Kitchen Full of Smiles

From mixing and measuring to tasting the finished dishes, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy. Children and carers worked side by side, learning how to prepare simple, healthy meals from scratch. Joel guided everyone with patience and plenty of encouragement, showing that cooking nutritious food can be easy, affordable, and genuinely good fun.

It was lovely to see so many little faces light up as they discovered new ingredients and skills. We may even have spotted a few budding chefs among the group!

Why Healthy Eating Matters So Much

At Timeout, we believe a healthy diet is one of the greatest gifts we can help give our children. Good food does far more than fill tummies — it fuels growing bodies and minds in ways that really count.

Eating well helps children:

  • Think and focus better, supporting brain function and learning

  • Feel steadier, helping to ease mood swings and settle emotions

  • Look after their mental health and wellbeing, laying strong foundations for the future

By teaching children how to cook wholesome meals, we're giving them skills and confidence they can carry with them for life. And when carers learn alongside them, those healthy habits are far more likely to stick at home too.

More to Come

The response to these sessions has been so heartening that we're hoping to run them again in the future. There's nothing quite like seeing families come together over good food, and we'd love to make this a regular part of life here at Timeout.

We'd Love to Hear From You

Did your child take part? We'd be delighted to hear all about it! Please send over any feedback and photos you have — we want to know how much the children and their carers enjoyed the sessions.

Your thoughts really do matter. They help us understand what worked well and make sure future classes are just as worthwhile. So don't be shy — share your experiences, tell us your highlights, and pass on those lovely snapshots.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and a special thank you to Joel for his warmth, patience, and delicious inspiration.
