Every year, our team at Timeout Children's Homes comes together to support a cause that resonates with our values and our community. This year, we are deeply honoured to announce that for 2026, we will be dedicating our fundraising efforts to The Albie Sugden Foundation. This is a cause that holds a very special place in our hearts, and we are committed to making a real difference alongside them.

The story behind this foundation is one of incredible bravery, profound loss, and unwavering hope. It’s a story we feel compelled to share, as it fuels our determination to support their vital mission.

The Story of a Little Lion, Albie Sugden

Albie was a bright and joyful little boy who, at just two years old, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2022. His diagnosis marked the beginning of an incredibly difficult journey for him and his family. Albie faced his battle with a courage that defied his young age, enduring an aggressive treatment plan that included six brain surgeries and nine rounds of intensive chemotherapy.

Despite his immense strength and the tireless efforts of his medical team, Albie tragically lost his fight in October 2023, just before what would have been his third birthday. His passing left an unimaginable void in the lives of his parents, Jane and Luke, and all who knew him.

In the face of such heartbreak, Jane and Luke chose to channel their grief into a powerful force for good. They established The Albie Sugden Foundation to honour their son’s memory and to fight for a future where no other family has to endure a similar tragedy.

The Foundation's Critical Mission

The Albie Sugden Foundation has a clear and urgent mission: to raise funds for vital research into childhood brain tumours. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children, yet research in this area remains critically underfunded. The foundation aims to change that.

By supporting pioneering research projects, they are working to find more effective and kinder treatments for children diagnosed with brain tumours. Their goal is to improve survival rates and the quality of life for young patients, bringing hope to families who are navigating the darkest of times. The work they do is not just about funding science; it’s about creating a legacy of hope in Albie’s name.

Why This Cause Means So Much to Us

For our family at Timeout Children's Homes, this partnership is deeply personal. We believe in nurturing and protecting every child's potential, and Albie’s story serves as a powerful reminder of how precious life is. We are inspired by the strength of his parents and their dedication to helping others.

Supporting The Albie Sugden Foundation allows us to extend our commitment beyond our own homes and contribute to a cause that impacts children and families across the country. Last year, our team showed incredible generosity and spirit in our fundraising efforts. We are confident that we can come together once again to make a significant contribution to this incredible foundation.

Get Ready for an Exciting Year of Fundraising

We have a fantastic year of events planned to help raise both funds and awareness for The Albie Sugden Foundation. From community fun days and sponsored challenges to bake sales and special gatherings, there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved.

We will be sharing more details about these events very soon, and we can’t wait to see our entire community—staff, carers, children, and supporters—come together. Every pound raised will go directly towards funding the research that can save young lives.
