World Mental Health Day at Brookland: Empowering Young People to Support One Another

At Brookland, World Mental Health Day was marked with a meaningful and creative activity designed to encourage students to think about mental wellbeing and the importance of supporting others.
During their PSHE lessons, students took part in the Soluna by Kooth World Mental Health Day challenge, where they were invited to create a “toolkit” of support for a friend who may be experiencing difficulties. The activity encouraged students to explore practical ways to offer kindness, encouragement and understanding, while recognising the importance of being there for those who may be struggling.
The response from students was inspiring. They demonstrated empathy, creativity and thoughtfulness, generating a wide range of ideas focused on promoting positive mental health and supporting one another through challenges.
To celebrate their contributions, students’ ideas have been brought together to create a new Mental Health Support Poster, which will be displayed around the school to help raise awareness, encourage positive wellbeing and remind students of the support available to them.

At Timeout, we are committed to creating environments where children and young people feel heard, valued and supported. Activities such as these help build confidence, strengthen connections and promote open conversations around mental health.
We are incredibly proud of all the students who took part and would like to thank them for their excellent effort, enthusiasm and thoughtful contributions. Together, they have helped create a lasting resource that will benefit the whole school community.
Well done, everyone! 🌟
