Children's Mental Health Week is an important time to shine a light on the well-being of young people across the UK. Here at Timeout, we are proud to support this incredible initiative, raising awareness and funds to positively impact the mental health of children in our schools and beyond. This year, we’ve partnered with the Halifax-based children's mental health charity, Invictus Wellbeing, to help foster healthier minds and brighter futures for the next generation.

The Theme for 2024 – "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself"
This year’s theme, "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself," is about encouraging children and young people to explore self-awareness and focus on their personal growth. By understanding and accepting themselves better, they can develop resilience, build confidence, and grow into emotionally healthier and more self-assured individuals.
Self-awareness is vital for children’s mental health. By helping them connect with their emotions and understand their strengths and areas of improvement, we empower them with the tools they need to overcome challenges and thrive in life.
What We Are Doing at Timeout
At Timeout, we’ve embraced the spirit of Children's Mental Health Week across all our schools. Our efforts aim to both raise awareness and actively support Invictus Wellbeing in its important work.
This week:
Katy from Invictus Wellbeing visited our primary school to deliver an engaging assembly. The children explored what "know yourself, grow yourself" means to them, with confidence-boosting discussions about resilience and personal development.
Our assembly included a special appearance by Dexter, the therapy dog, who brought comfort and joy to everyone in the room. The children loved his calming presence, and even shy pupils were eager to participate and ask questions.
We’ve been busy fundraising for Invictus Wellbeing's "Blusome Good Week", a fantastic initiative that supports their crucial mental health programmes.
It’s been amazing to see the students engaged and inspired. We’re thrilled to create an environment where mental health is openly discussed and supported.
Why Children's Mental Health Week Matters
Issues affecting children’s mental health can have long-lasting consequences if left unaddressed. Encouraging self-awareness helps children understand their emotional needs, identify stressors, and seek help when needed. With the right toolkit, young minds are better equipped to handle challenges, build strong relationships, and prioritise their well-being.
Children's Mental Health Week is an opportunity to bring this conversation to the forefront. It inspires schools, families, and communities to work together to create a supportive environment for children to flourish emotionally and mentally.

Parents and Educators – How You Can Help
The role of parents, carers, and educators is crucial in promoting positive mental health in children. Some practical ways you can help include:
Start the conversation early – Talk about emotions and mental health openly to normalise these discussions.
Encourage self-discovery – Guide children to explore what makes them happy, motivated, or calm. Simple activities like journaling or drawing can help.
Model self-awareness – Show children that recognising and talking about your own emotions is a strength, not a weakness.
Engage with initiatives – Support charities like Invictus Wellbeing, or find similar initiatives in your community to make a direct impact.
Let’s Make a Difference Together
At Timeout, we are proud to celebrate Children's Mental Health Week and stand together with Invictus Wellbeing to make a positive impact. By helping children know themselves better, we can empower them to grow with confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.
